|The Durand | Best Corkscrew for Fine Vintage Wines & Ports|
Since most of you buy aged wine from us, it’s not surprising if you find the cork to be brittle or fragile. It’s an inevitable sign of any old bottle from living an old age, just like an old lady with wrinkles. Most conventional cork openers do not extract the corks properly as it is not designed to open old bottles in the first place. How can you open your old bottle effortlessly then?
We highly recommend Durand! Durand removes old and fragile corks whole and undamaged every time and best it’s especially designed to remove aged vintage cork!
Designed by a prominent wine collector, and named for a mentor and world renowned sommelier, it has been repeatedly tested on the most challenging corks. It has worked without fail. As with other wine lovers, you too will value a Durand whenever you need to open your most treasured older wines.

Dão · Portugal
“Finally had a glass of decent wine after a series of hopeless Portugese wines.
Good elegant and refined oaks on the nose, at least something special for today. Palate was really pleasant and easygoing, I find that they’ve somehow abused the oak with heavy presence of it.
At €12.50 this is not exactly cheap but would suit the middle class restaurants really well. “
Alentejano · Portugal
“Not much luck at this booth, serving me loads of garbage. This was slightly better with extremely fruity nose, quite a pleasant nose too. However the palate really didn’t live up to other Alentejano wines, extremely sour, but the extra dose of oak saved this wine a bit. At €3.20, still not worth it, although we Asians will really laughed at the price tag. “
Douro · Portugal
“Very creamy nose, was hopeful for a while till I had a sip and almost threw away my glass, extreme sourish and sharp palate. Even at €2.50 a bottle, I’d take Australian wines anytime. “
Côte de Beaune · France
Grape – Chardonnay
We had a white Burgundy 2009 blind tasting organized by Johan, was like an exam, even have to answer questionnaires via Survey Monkeys, however, it was extremely fun.
Great elegant nose, subdued elegance, slight fragrance & lemony, indistinguishable lime.
This was a huge wine by any burgundy aspect, and rightfully a Combettes style. Along with it was high acidity and very rich style, both are characters of 2009 white burgundies. Very entertaining wine. “
Côte de Nuits · France
Grape – Pinot Noir
“These are daily drinking burgundy that doesn’t have any charm to me. I’m not sold on these wines. Nose of cooked strawberries and some cherries, very ripe and slightly medicinal. Palate had too much grip, extremely dry as well, although it’s a ripe and truly honest wine that’s down to earth. “
