For Les Caillerets from Chassagne-Montrachet, the de-facto go-to producer would be Jean Marc Pillot, you can read the review here: 2016 Jean Marc Pillot Les Caillerets, Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru. However, when the talented Marc Colin produced Les Caillerets, I would not resist giving it a try. Surprisingly smoky on the bouquet, with ripe pear characters roaming around in the glass. 2006 was a rather ripe vintage, thus it’s not surprising to find ripeness in the content of this wine, very deep and rich, almost ripe pear and honey, with some buttery notes, with a good balance of acidity, it’s charming to drink even before dinner. Paired up with food very well, very enjoyable and a flamboyant wine. It could be a good challenger to Jean Marc Pillot’s Les Caillerets!
