I’m sometimes a fan of Dom Perignon, but not always. I’m selective on the vintage. Having drank the 99 multiple times, I was far from impressed by it. Nose was creamy and rich, lemon mingled with citrus, although the beauty is that it doesn’t have the typical yeasty nose of most champagnes. Palette wise, it was sharp and acidic, felt much younger than 99 perhaps due to good storage condition. I got loads of citrus, and also bitter tonic water. It finally turned a bit more fruity later.”
