EVOLVED – 9.5/10 STARS
My last bottle of Mouton Rothschild 82 was in July 2016, so 2.5 years apart to evaluate another bottle with pristine provenance is lucky of me. It wasn’t decanted, and was served double blind. I detected no green character whatsoever on the nose, sworn it was right bank from start to end. Palette wise also no harshness, no green character nor Cabernet Sauvignon, nor any Pauillac style. In fact there wasn’t any left bank character, with extremely well integrated tannins, with very big, rounded and fruity character, all signs point to right bank Pomerol or St Emilion. The fruit was quite exceptional, chewy and plummy. Enjoyable to learn that it was a Mouton Rothschild 82 that has really evolved to be on par with a great right bank wine!
